Microdermabrasion is an in salon professional treatment using diamond shaped micro-crystals to remove the outer dead keritinised skin cells, and initiates cellular turnover at the dermal and epidermal layers.  This improves the skin elasticity, texture, colour and overall appearance.  Microdermabrasion is like exercise for the skin, it invigorates cell renewal and promotes new collagen growth.  Many factors influence cellular regeneration of the skin.  For example the skins natural response to excessive sunlight is to become thicker in order to protect the sub-layers of the skin.  Acne sufferers tend to retain their skin cells, causing further congestion and thickening of the top layer of skin.  Age, genetics hormonal imbalances and diet all influence the cell turnover of the skin and the reproduction of healthy cells.  Regular microdermabraion treatments help to balance cellular turnover and keep the skin youthful.
